Charming vintage framed cross stitch sampler featuring the phrase: “If All Else Fails - Ask Grandfather.” This handcrafted folk art piece features whimsical storybook-style embroidery with a grandfather figure, dachshund dog, child, sailboat, and tree motif, all stitched in cheerful primary colors against natural linen fabric. The bright turquoise frame gives it strong retro appeal and makes it especially eye-catching for cottagecore, grandmillennial, and vintage family decor aesthetics. The frame is glassed and blue plastic. It measures 14.25" X 11.25". The hanger on the backside of the frame is plastic and doesn't appear to be very strong. In good vintage condition with some slight discoloration to the fabric consistent with vintage textile art.

This style of humorous family sampler became especially popular in the 1970s and early 1980s.

For instance, we sell many brass or silver pieces and they may show some tarnishing or patina. We do not polish the pieces as we personally love the aging, as many do! We leave it up to the new owner and their preferences for aiming to remove or not.
