Unique vintage 1947 Community Chest Campaign Award featuring a hand-painted wooden folk art figure resembling Robin Hood or a storybook archer. The original metal plaque remains attached to the base and reads:

Community Chest organizations were the direct predecessors of today's United Way. Beginning in the early 1900s, Community Chests organized community-wide charitable fundraising campaigns that supported local hospitals, social services, youth organizations, and other nonprofit agencies through a single annual appeal. By the late 1940s, more than 1,000 communities had established Community Chest organizations, eventually evolving into the United Fund movement and later United Way.

This piece represents an authentic artifact from the post-World War II era of American charitable giving and would appeal to collectors of United Way history, philanthropy memorabilia, folk art, advertising collectibles, civic history, and mid-century organizational awards.

For instance, we sell many brass or silver pieces and they may show some tarnishing or patina. We do not polish the pieces as we personally love the aging, as many do! We leave it up to the new owner and their preferences for aiming to remove or not.
