Charming vintage hand-carved soapstone decorative plaque featuring two hand-painted elephants beneath stylized trees.

The rectangular stone plaque has softly rounded corners and a beautiful blue, cream and natural stone background. Along the upper edge is a raised, hand-carved openwork element with irregular geometric piercings, adding dimension and a distinctly handmade folk-art character.

The elephants are individually painted in earthy brown, black and white tones. Natural variations in the soapstone, irregular carving and hand-painted details give this piece wonderful character.

A unique vintage decorative piece for a collected, global, bohemian or eclectic interior. Beautiful displayed on a shelf, tabletop, gallery ledge or among a collection of vintage folk art.

All inventory is pre-owned vintage, antique or artisan pieces. These pieces may be unique and hold marks of their previous lives. For instance, we sell many brass or silver pieces and they may show some tarnishing or patina. We do not polish the pieces as we personally love the aging, as many do! We leave it up to the new owner and their preferences for aiming to remove or not.
