Stunning Victorian era French antique portrait of a little girl, hand-painted on satin and beautifully and ornately framed. These miniature portraits, popular in the 16th century onwards, reached their zenith in the 18th and 19th centuries, serving as intimate keepsakes and status symbols. Often painted on ivory, vellum, or in this case, satin fabric, they captured the likeness of loved ones, royalty, or prominent figures. The detailed rendering and delicate brushwork required for these small-scale artworks are a testament to the skill of the miniaturist.

It features a Victorian style little girl with curly blonde hair and blue eyes. She is wearing a white off-shoulder dress with puffy sleeves and is holding a tiny bouquet of flowers in her hand.

The background of the satin is a pretty bright pink.

The frame is un-glassed. It is gold, oval-shaped with ornate details at the top and bottom.

The piece is very petite at 5" tall and 3" wide. It comes with a hook and is ready to hang, if desired.

In excellent condition for its age, light patina to the frame. No spots or stains on the satin.
